Tooth Extraction

Tooth extraction is a necessary procedure to eliminate the source of pain, infection, or other complications that may threaten oral health. Modern techniques allow the procedure to be performed quickly, painlessly, and with a minimal recovery period.
At our clinic, tooth extractions are carried out by experienced surgeons using effective anaesthesia and modern equipment, ensuring maximum comfort for the patient.

When Tooth Extraction Is Necessary

Tooth extraction is considered a last resort and is performed when preserving the tooth is no longer possible. The procedure is indicated in cases of severe damage or when there is a risk to surrounding tissues.

Main Indications for Extraction

  • Deep caries or pulpitis when conservative treatment is not possible.
  • Periodontitis with the formation of a cyst or granuloma.
  • Teeth that interfere with proper bite formation or the eruption of other teeth.
  • Trauma involving a fractured root.
  • Orthodontic indications (dental crowding).

Types of Tooth Extraction

Simple Atraumatic Extraction

This method is used for visible teeth with intact roots. The dentist gently loosens and removes the tooth using forceps, preserving the surrounding bone tissue as much as possible.

Surgical Extraction

This procedure is performed in more complex clinical cases:

  • Impacted or partially impacted teeth.
  • Wisdom teeth with abnormal positioning.
  • Fractures of the crown or root.

The procedure includes an incision of the soft tissue, removal of a portion of bone if necessary using a dental drill, extraction of the tooth or its fragments, and subsequent suturing of the wound.

Stages of the Tooth Extraction Procedure

1. Preparation and Diagnosis

The dentist examines the oral cavity and takes an X-ray to assess the position of the roots and the condition of the bone tissue. Local anaesthesia is then administered.

2. Performing the Extraction

In a simple extraction, the tooth is loosened and removed.
In the case of surgical intervention, an incision is made in the gum, part of the bone is removed, and the root or its fragments are extracted.

3. Socket Treatment and Haemostasis

The wound is cleaned with antiseptic solutions, bleeding is controlled, resorbable sutures are placed if necessary, and granulation tissue is removed.

4. Post-operative Period

The patient receives detailed aftercare instructions, including the use of cold compresses, adherence to a soft diet, and limiting mouth rinsing. Sutures are usually removed after 7–10 days.

Indications and Contraindications

When Extraction Is Necessary

  • Untreatable caries with destruction of more than two-thirds of the tooth crown.
  • Acute or chronic periodontitis.
  • Wisdom teeth exerting pressure on neighbouring teeth.
  • Orthodontic abnormalities.
  • Preparation for prosthetic treatment or implant placement.

Contraindications to the Procedure

Absolute Contraindications:

  • Acute leukaemia.
  • Severe hypertension.
  • Second and third trimesters of pregnancy.

Relative Contraindications:

  • Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus.
  • Acute respiratory viral infections.
  • Periodontitis in the acute stage.

Temporary Contraindications:

  • Inflammatory processes in the oral cavity.
  • Herpetic lesions on the lips.

Results and Recovery

After extraction, a healthy socket forms and the source of infection is eliminated. In most cases, patients return to their normal lifestyle within 1–3 days.

Main outcomes:

  • Reduction or complete elimination of pain and swelling.
  • Restoration of chewing function.
  • The possibility of subsequent implant placement or bridge prosthetics.

Recommendations: avoid hot and spicy foods for 2–3 days, do not perform intensive mouth rinsing during the first 24 hours, and avoid using a drinking straw.

Prevention of Complications

  • Preventive dental check-ups twice a year.
  • Timely treatment of caries and inflammatory processes.
  • Proper oral hygiene (dental floss, oral irrigator).

Why should you book the service?

Instant Pain Relief

Removing the problematic tooth quickly eliminates the source of acute pain and infection, restoring everyday comfort.

Prevention of Complications

The procedure stops inflammation from spreading to neighbouring teeth and gums, protecting overall oral health.

Fast Recovery

Modern, minimally invasive techniques with effective anaesthesia allow you to return to your normal routine within 1–3 days, usually without swelling.

Procedure stages

Examination and Anaesthesia

The dentist examines the tooth, takes an X-ray, and administers local anaesthesia. The procedure begins only once complete numbness is achieved.

Tooth Extraction

The surgeon gently loosens and removes the tooth using specialised instruments or, if necessary, makes a small incision to access complex roots.

Wound Care

The socket is cleaned, bleeding is controlled, and sutures are placed if required; these usually dissolve on their own.

Aftercare and Recovery

You receive guidance on diet, rinsing, and pain relief. Discomfort typically subsides within 1–3 days, and stitches (if any) are removed after about a week.

F.A.Q.

No. The procedure is carried out under effective local anaesthesia, so you won’t feel pain. Any post-extraction discomfort is easily managed with standard painkillers.
A simple, atraumatic extraction takes 10–20 minutes. Surgical removal of complex teeth may take up to 40–60 minutes.
Mild swelling is possible during the first 1–2 days. Cold compresses and following your dentist’s advice help reduce it.
After 2–3 hours, you can have soft, warm food. During the first 24 hours, avoid hard, hot, or spicy foods.
